The 2019 G1 Climax tournament has officially come to a close with Kota Ibushi set to headline Wrestle Kingdom 14 next year.

However, it appears that the 2020 G1 Climax will be moved to the fall, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The move is due to the Olympics, which is set to take place in August and use most of the same arenas that NJPW uses during the yearly competition.

This appears to be a one-time thing; however, there’s no official word on whether the company will go back to the summer schedule in 2021. At the moment, the date for the G1 Climax 30 has not been set in stone. We’ll keep you updated on when the company reveals the schedule for the tournament.
