This past Wednesday, Sakura shocked the wrestling community when she pinned the AEW Women’s Champion in a tag team match.

The title bout was a student vs. teacher match, as Sakura mentored Riho early in her career. The challenger showcased her veteran status by getting the best of the women’s champion early on;  Sakura also had an impressive spot where she had Riho in a rolling surf board stretch.

Riho would make her comeback and got a strong near fall after a 619 and top rope cross body block. Sakura would then get a near fall of her own after a nice tiger driver. Following that, the ladies would have a back-and-forth sequence of technical wrestling that ultimately saw Riho come out on top with a cradle pin that got the three count.
