James Storm finally addresses his situation with NWA.
Last month, it was reported by various news outlets that the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion was a free agent. In fact, Fightful detailed that Storm’s deal had actually expired back in February, though there was no word on whether both sides were still discussing a new contract.
Last week, word about Storm's status with NWA fired back up when the “Cowboy” made his debut at the UWN Primetime Live pay-per-view and fought Fred Rosser and Chris Masters in the co-main event.
With the veteran competing at the NWA joint show and still listed as one-half of the NWA Tag Team Champions, does this mean that James Storm has re-signed with the company?
The 43-year-old spoke to WrestleZone’s Dominic DeAngelo and confirmed that he’s no longer with the NWA, though he’s more than willing to drop the tag team belts if they needed him to do so (Transcript courtesy of WrestleFix.com):
“It was one of those things where my contract ended in the beginning of February, and I think I had a month—it was a rollover deal, if they wanted to roll it over. I talked to Dave [Lagana] and Billy and I had some stuff come up, I said ’Look, I’ll help you out as much as I can but I really can’t be under contract right now.’ It was really cool that Billy understood and I said ’whatever you guys need, you need me to drop the belts, I will.’ Storm said. “It was no hard feelings, I left on good terms and I said any time they need me, give me a call. I’m still one of the ‘Tag Team Champions’ so they’ve got to bring me back sooner or later!”
Storm does state that he’s currently in talks with several different companies, though the veteran doesn’t name any specific promotion. Check out the full interview where Storm discusses working for NWA, potentially going over to AEW, and so much more.
