Charlotte Flair managed to hold on to the NXT Women's Championship last night, but she had to resort to cheap tactics to ensure Io Shirai didn't walk away with the title.

The match was pretty good overall, with both women pulling out all the stops and trading some heavy shots in an attempt to secure a victory. The Queen physically dominated early on, but soon realized that The Genius of the Sky was not going to stay down, and decided to make damn certain she held on to the gold by hitting her opponent with a kendo stick and forcing a disqualification.

Flair continued her attack after the bell rang, but Shirai was saved by the returning Rhea Ripley, who chased Charlotte off. Io didn't seem particularly grateful (to say the least) however, and confronted The Nightmare backstage (see below).

This suggests that both Shirai and Ripley will be involved in the title hunt foing forward, and we can probably expect to see a triple-threat match for the NXT Women's Championship at some point in the near future.
