We were hoping it might not be necessary, but Karrion Kross was forced to relinquish the NXT Championship last night after only winning it from Keith Lee this past Saturday at TakeOver: XXX.

The Duke of Doom made his way to the ring with Scarlett to open the show, pointing out that he did what he said he was going to do by stripping the title from Lee's "carcass like flesh from the bone." He then said that war always comes with casualties, and confirmed that he separated his shoulder during the match.

Kross finished by laying the title in the ring as Scarlett turned the timer over beside it. Tick tock.

Kross said in a recent interview that he didn't expect to be out of action for very long, but that obviously remains to be seen. In the meantime, a new NXT Champion will be crowned in a very unique way on next week's episode... but more on that later!
