Is Dexter Lumis already being positioned as a main event player in NXT? The former Breakout Tournament competitor interjected himself into a tag-team match involving Velveteen Dream and The Undisputed ERA on this week's episode and made quite the impact (no pun intended).
Dream was supposed to face Finn Balor in the main event, but The Prince was obviously unable to make the show as NXT came up with a weak storyline excuse that someone had... thrown his stuff around the locker room. As a result, Keith Lee partnered with Dream for a tag-team match with The ERA's Adam Cole and Roderick Strong.
The North American Champion was taken out of action early on by Damien Priest, so Lumis was allowed to take his place as Velveteen's partner, and was able to get a surprising amount of offence in. Dexter then held off Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly at ringside, allowing Dream to hit his Purple Rainmaker elbow and pin the NXT Champion.
We have no idea what this means for Lumis moving forward, but it's certainly a major spot for a guy who only debuted two weeks ago, so chances are he is in for a decent push.
