TNA Wrestling held its TNA Slammiversary PPV this weekend with a huge main event which saw Moose defend the TNA World Championship in a 6-way elimination match.
Steve Maclin was taken out early on and Joe Hendry, who has recently made a splash in WWE NXT, shocked everyone by eliminating the champion, only to be attacked by Josh Alexander. He eliminated the fan-favourite and received chants of "Bullsh*t" from those in attendance.
With that, Nic Nemeth (better known as Dolph Ziggler in WWE) took out Alexander, eliminating him out of nowhere with a superkick. Frankie Kazarian then entered the fray, only to be vanquished with a superkick and Danger Zone combo, allowing Nemeth to score the 1-2-3.
With that, he became the new TNA World Champion!
Nemeth, a former World Heavyweight Champion in WWE, has held a couple of titles since his release, including the AAA Mega Championship and the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship.
He spent 19 years in WWE but, when it became clear his time in the main event had ended, he left in September 2023. He's without a doubt proven himself since and, seeing as WWE has a working relationship with TNA, perhaps a WWE return is possible.
Either way, it's great to see him still finding success in the world of pro wrestling now he's no longer under that WWE umbrella.
Check out some highlights from the match (including what became of Hendry) and a post-match interview with Nemeth in the X posts below.
