It’s been recently reported that John Hennigan – aka Johnny Impact, John Morrison – had signed with the WWE, though the former Impact World Champion denied the rumor that was first reported by PWInsider.
While fans won’t know what Hennigan’s next move in the wrestling world will be, one thing’s for sure, the 40-year-old and his wife, Impact Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie, are not in the same company anymore.
Speaking with Forbes, the Knockouts Champion discusses how her and Hennigan working for different promotions affects their relationship, making it clear that it barely has any impact whatsoever:
“I mean, we don't really talk [about potentially working for two different promotions.] We're together all the time and I've never—in the almost four years that we've been together—there's never been an argument or problem or like a lack of finding time for each other. “Even though we've worked together a lot of that time, part of that time—when we first started for example—I was living in Mexico. We were traveling back and forth and we made it work and no matter where he goes on his next step of his journey and his professional wrestling career, it's going to be okay because we love each other, support each other and I know he's got my back, I've got his back and it's just part of life.”
Valkyrie also addresses the intergender matches that take place within the company, stating that intergender bouts are a lot like death matches:
“We get blow back from intergender matches every time. I've heard people just get offended about it, but I’ve never seen someone get offended with people who say ‘oh I love death matches.’ With intergender wrestling, it’s the same thing: It’s either you like or you don't like it. If you don't like it, don’t watch it, if you like it—cool."
It’s been reported that Valkyrie’s contract with Impact Wrestling ends towards the end of 2019. Will the longest reigning Knockouts Champion re-sign with the company? We’ll surely find out soon.
