Daniel Bryan is currently serving as the General Manager of SmackDown Live but WWE not allowing him to wrestle means he's forced to stay out of the ring as an active competitor. That's a problem when he frequently gets into wars of words with various competitors and Sami Zayn and The Miz are recent examples of wrestlers the leader of the Yes Movement should have probably clashed with.
In a recent interview, Bryan made it clear that while he enjoys that role, it proves to be a frustrating experience for him when he knows there's never going to be any real sort of pay off to it all.
"I just did an interview in the ring with Sami Zayn a couple of weeks ago and you know that we could just go out there and the crowd would eat it up and it would be awesome. And the same thing with the Miz last year. There's that very real disdain between the two of us that we could have really made something special. So missing out on those little things, part of me dies inside, but then I look at the bigger picture and I know that this is my role for right now. And come September, one way or another, I'll be wrestling again. Or, if a test says that I'm not, then I won't."
It's clear Bryan is anxious to wrestle again and if that means he has to leave WWE, that's clearly what will ultimately happen (unless they're smart enough to realise that he should be given the green light to become an active competitor). There's a long time to go until next September, regardless, and with things heating up between Bryan and Shane McMahon, perhaps that match is on the cards!
