During a recent edition of "Conversation With The Big Guy," Ryback Reeves talked about the money WWE Superstars make from merchandise and while it's no secret that the company's top stars can make a killing from t-shirt sales and the like, they're still only getting a fraction of that $30.
"The thing is a $30 t-shirt they are selling, you're making a dollar or under a dollar a shirt, somewhere in that vicinity," he revealed. "Wrestlers, as independent contractors should be able to negotiate. WWE will say anyone can negotiate, I can tell you first hand that if you do that, you're not going to make any money and you're not going to be used."
"So, everybody signs the contract and just goes along with it because that is what everyone else has done," he concluded.
It is shocking to think that wrestlers get such a small fraction of whatever pieces of merchandise WWE sells and while it's obviously good that they're given a cut, earning less than a dollar on a thirty dollar shirt people are buying because of them does seem like something of an insult.
Sadly, that's just the way things are with a huge corporation but it will be interesting if that starts changing with the launch of AEW.
