Last week's RAW generated a lot of interest thanks to the reveal of Kurt Angle's big secret and a main event which promised to reveal Brock Lesnar's opponent for SummerSlam but this week's edition wasn't quite so lucky in terms of ratings. Can the show's many rematches be blamed for that? Probably!
After all, we got a main event featuring The Miz and Dean Ambrose, a combination fans are well and truly sick of at this stage. Throw in a third Finn Balor vs. Elias Samson match and other repetitive contests and ratings took a hit. As a result, RAW's total viewers were down 3% from last week and it slipped down to being the second-highest-rated cable show as a result.
RAW's first hour drew 3.156 million viewers, hour two dropped to 3.129 million viewers, and the third dipped again to 2.917 million viewers. It's average viewership was 3.067 million but the 18-49 demographic plummeted 8% from 1.07 last week to 1.01.
This isn't disastrous news for WWE but they're going to need to turn things around as we get closer to SummerSlam next month. How they do that remains to be seen but adding Kurt Angle to the card in a match of some sort definitely wouldn't hurt. What do you think?
