Things have been nasty between the Hardy Brothers (especially Matt) and Impact Wrestling since the popular duo left the promotion earlier this year. Both have been battling on who has the rights to the Broken Matt Hardy brand and gimmick. Anthem president Ed Nordholm has stated in the past that he believes the company owns the intellectual porperty associated with the gimmick. However, its no secret that Matt Hardy came up with the gimmick himself and actually paid for some of events regarding the Broken universe with his own money.

While the battle has certainly quieted down between the two sides, PWInsider reports that Hardy’s trademark claim for “Broken Matt Hardy” will be published for opposition on Dec. 19. Anyone else who wants to legally claim ownership will have 30 days after that date to do so. If no one does, then Matt will hold the trademark and be free to use it with WWE or wherever else he chooses. The question is whether Anthem will pursue the trademark again?

Based on the events of the past couple of months, Anthem may not have the money to waste to do so. However, there's no official word on whether the company looks to file for the trademark again. We'll keep you updated on this sitaution when it furthers. If you don't know what the hype is about Broken Matt Hardy, check out the final deletion match between Matt and Jeff below.
