Soon after WrestleMania aired, news broke that Road Dogg had resigned from his position as Lead Writer for SmackDown LIVE. At the time we were only given a vague reason why, but now more details have emerged.

According to Jeff Whalen of Rajah.com, Roady hasn't actually quit altogether and is actually taking "extended leave," so there's a chance we will see him back at some point. As for why he felt the need to step away, it seemingly came down to him having enough of being micromanaged by Vince McMahon.

"The belief is that the frustration came as a result of working all those hours and putting Smackdown together only for it to basically be “torn apart” and re-done by Vince at the production meetings on Tuesday afternoons. It is also being noted that McMahon “dressed down” James on more than occasion about “product continuity issues”, which interestingly WWE has now posted an official position online for that they are looking to fill."

Could anyone blame the guy for needing a break from that?

Road Dogg frequently came under fire from fans for some of the creative decisions he made, but most would still agree that SmackDown was the superior show to Raw under his watch.
