RAW REPORT: Seth Rollins Confronts Triple H; Roman Reigns Vows To Retire The Undertaker
After a bit of a lackluster Raw last week, Monday's installment really upped the ante. Find out what went down between the likes of Triple H and Seth Rollins, Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon, and more.
A lot went down during last night's Raw, and most of it was significantly more enjoyable than pretty much anything from last week's show. You can check out a full breakdown of the matches below, but first let's expand on the major developments.
During Roman Reigns' match against Jinder Mahal, The Undertaker's gong sounded, distracting The Big Dog. He still won, of course (we can't have "the guy" lose to a jobber like Mahal!), but when Reigns called out the Dead Man, he got Shawn Michaels instead, who warned him not to take The Phenom lightly. This would have been a perfect opportunity to put some real heel heat on Reigns by having him spear Michaels out of his cowboy boots, but no... he simply promised to retire Taker for good before walking back up the ramp, where he was ambushed by Braun Strowman to a huge pop from the crowd.
Then, towards the end of the show, the situation between Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon came to a head in the middle of the ring, which brought out The Game. After a war of words, Foley put the Mandible claw on Triple H but Steph hit the Hardcore Legend with a low blow. As Hunter prepared to lay a beating on Foley, Seth Rollins made his way to the ring in a new Kingslayer t-shirt (Jaime Lannister will not be pleased), before dropping his crutch and attacking the Cerebral Assassin. Unfortunately, Rollins didn't have the upper hand for long and Hunter wound up smashing that crutch into The Architect's injured leg.
This was a terrific segment, and even though Rollins was legitimately hurt during the Samoa Joe attack a few weeks ago, WWE did a great job of working it into the storyline, and seemingly (unless Rollins has some kind of Wolverine-like healing factor) made it appear a lot worse than it actually was.
Triple H Vs. Seth Rollins is now easilly one of the more anticipated matches of the WrestleMania 33 card, but the majority of fans still seem dead against seeing Reigns Vs. Undertaker.
Here's what else went down on this week's Raw:
Sasha Banks defeated Dana Brooke with a quick rollup. This ultimately led to Brooke turning on her mentor, Charlotte Flair.
Tony Nese and The Brian Kendrick defeated Akira Tozawa and TJ Perkins in a decent tag match.
Chris Jericho and Sami Zayn defeated Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens when Joe and KO were disqualified for a prolonged beatdown on Zayn
. Austin Aries defeated Ariya Daivari.
The Big Show defeated Titus O’Neil.
Bayley defeated Nia Jax via DQ when Jax refused to stop a corner assault.
