News broke late last night that WWE has released announcer Greg Hamilton. We're used to hearing him introduce Superstars as they make their way to the ring, and he's had a lengthy stint with the company that began in 2015. After starting in NXT, he was moved to SmackDown in 2016.

From there, he's been a regular fixture in WWE programming, so this news is definitely surprising.

Earlier this week, Hamilton claimed WWE would be suing rapper Westside Gunn for using a sample of his voice in one of his songs. Since then, there's been speculation that the company may have been unhappy with him making such bold claims on their behalf, but he seemingly debunks that in a lengthy Instagram post detailing the circumstances behind his release.

Describing it as a "mutual respect departure," he adds: "And as I get older, my mother is in her 70’s; my sister Jessi who has cerebral palsy...those are my priorities. Not chasing fame, not being on television. 52 weeks a year became too much. Without our mental health, we have nothing."

Needless to say, we wish Hamilton the best moving forward and hope to see him again soon.
