When CM Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames last year, footage of Seth Rollins losing his sh*t quickly went viral. The stage was then set for him and the Second City Saint to clash at WrestleMania.
While it was never the plan for Punk to win the Royal Rumble, the idea was that he'd finally get his WrestleMania main event by challenging Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Unfortunately, their rivalry reached an abrupt end when Punk tore his tricep after taking a Future Shock DDT from Drew McIntyre in the 30-man match.
As a result, McIntyre took his place at WrestleMania and he and Punk have feuded ever since. The idea now seems to be for them to clash at SummerSlam and, in a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Rollins shared his thoughts on Punk costing McIntyre the title five minutes after he took it from him at the Show of Shows.
"Well, he just couldn't leave well enough alone, you know? He had me, he beat me dead to rights. I mean, I was in bad shape, bad shape. I mean, I should have lost to my three-year-old kid at the stage I was in," Rollins recalled. "So he should have beat me, but he just couldn't enjoy it, he just couldn't leave it alone, he had to go boast in Punk's face."
That resulted in Damian Priest cashing in and winning the title, a belt he'll put on the line against Rollins at the upcoming Money in the Bank PLE.
As for how he feels about the Best in the World these days, Rollins added, "And you know Punk, you know what he's going to get himself into. Why? Why would you take that chance? Drew's usually a smart guy, but lately he's really been letting his emotions get the better of him, cost him on a couple of big occasions here lately. "
"So I don't know, man. Those guys seem like they got some sort of score to settle. Fragile Phil's got to get himself healed up and maybe they can work that out. I don't know. That ain't my business, man. My business is the World title."
We'd be shocked if WWE doesn't eventually revisit Rollins and Punk's potential rivalry, but for now, both men are focused on other things.
As always, stay tuned for more as we have it.
