Hulk Hogan is one of the most iconic and instantly recognisable faces and personalities in pro wrestling history. His career has spanned decades, and fans of all ages know and love him. Well, loved him might be a slightly more accurate way of putting it.
A leaked sex tape featured the WWE Hall of Famer making a series of racist comments - which he's since said were the "biggest mistake" of his life - and, in more recent times, it's his outspoken political opinions which have turned off many fans.
Hogan is no longer revered by wrestling fans and that was on full display during the first RAW on Netflix when the show premiered on the streaming platform last month.
Appearing alongside Jimmy Hart, Hogan was on hand to hype up his Real American Beer brand, one of the new sponsors for RAW on the streaming platform. Fans mercilessly booed him and he later pulled out of a widely advertised appearance at Saturday Night's Main Event due to a supposed scheduling issue.
During a recent interview, former World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins was asked for his thoughts on what happened. Despite frequently being painted as a WWE "company man," the Visionary didn't hold back from making his feelings about the Hulkster known.
"I am all for people getting what they deserve. That’s how I feel about Hulk Hogan getting booed. If you are getting booed by the masses, there is a reason for it. I don’t know if Hulk fully understands the scope but people get what they deserve. So I’m happy to see it. I love to see it. Look, I’ve said this before about the Hulkster, he’s the guy that got me into this industry as far as love for professional wrestling."
"So I’ll never take that away from him, what he’s done for our business, I’ll never take that away from him. But I do think there’s some responsibility that he needs to own up to that he hasn’t yet. Maybe when he finally figures that out, might be able to move forward with our fans. So we’ll see."
Hogan recently broke his silence on the negative response to his appearance and put it down to him having been a heel in the nWo a few decades ago (those Californians have long memories, brother). He also said he regrets not cutting a promo about Kamala Harris and "the soup line."
