SMACKDOWN LIVE's Money In The Bank Title Match Between Jinder Mahal And Baron Corbin Set A New Record
Last night on Smackdown Live, Baron Corbin cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on WWE Champion Jinder Mahal... and lost the match in record-breaking time thanks to a momentary distraction by John Cena...
Last night's instalment of Smackdown Live featured only the fourth ever unsuccessful Money In The Back cash-in, as Baron Corbin attempted to seize an opportunity to defeat a prone Jinder Mahal and become the new WWE Champion.
Unfortunately for The Lone Wolf, a momentary distraction by John Cena led to the Modern Day Maharajah finding the wherewithal to roll his opponent up for the 3-count.
We've seen some very quick pins over the years, but at under 6 seconds, this one broke a new record. The previous records for the shortest WWE Title matches were Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam 2013 in seven seconds, and Bob Backlund vs. Diesel at Madison Square Garden in eight seconds.
Some fans were up in arms about the booking decision and feel Corbin should have had a title run, but there's no denying that it was an unexpected and interesting turn of events.
