On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez revealed that Vince McMahon has now randomly decided that matches on RAW and SmackDown Live shouldn't be interrupted by commercial breaks. That's why WWE started doing 2 out of 3 Falls matches last week, and Vince reportedly feels that matches should be seen in their entirety just like real sports.
It's a fair point, and it's beyond tedious how many matches start before RAW goes to commercial and then end almost as soon as it comes back.
However, here's where things get a little weird. One idea that the Chairman is mulling over is to incorporate rounds into matches. There would be a time limit per round and the shows could go to commercial break after each of them. So, if a wrestler gets a pin in the first round, their opponent has the chance to get one themselves in the second. If it's a 1-1 tie by the end of the third, it's a draw.
Some matches wouldn't have rounds, but this could be the norm moving forward. A lot of scenarios have been suggested (like neither wrestler getting a win in the first two rounds only to then nab one in the third) but this sounds like a significant change and not one a lot of fans will embrace.
What do you guys think?
