Vince McMahon Has Reportedly Lifted The Ban On The Word "Belt" On WWE Programming

For years, WWE (well, Vince McMahon) has banned the use of the world "belt" to describe championship titles but with Becky Lynch referring to herself as "Becky 2 Belts," it's said that his attitude has changed.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is now allowing Superstars and commentators to use the word "belt." That has previously been banned by the sports entertainment giant and while there's no word on why Vince McMahon has changed his mind, common sense says it may have something to do with Becky Lynch.

After all, she's managed to get "Becky 2 Belts" over in a big way with fans and WWE has started allowing the use of the term both on merchandise and when advertising products involving title belts.

Way back in 2008, a leaked document revealed nearly two dozen banned terms including "belt," "strap," "title changing hands," "backstage," "feud," "fans," and "pro wrestling."

Many of those have since been given the green light and it seems as if Vince has been forced to change his stance on a number of terms over the years given the way the wrestling business has evolved and changed. At least he's moving with the times, eh?
