Roman Reigns has been the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion for over 800 days and is well on his way to becoming the longest-reigning world title holder of all time. That was clearly Vince McMahon's plan, anyway, though he somewhat backed WWE into a corner by putting both the WWE and Universal titles on the Head of the Table.
While it may have gone a long way in cementing Reigns' dominance, it also left WWE with another part-time champion. Thankfully, in the wake of McMahon's long-overdue departure, Triple H has focused on making the United States and Intercontinental titles important again, giving top Superstars like Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins something to fight for.
As for Reigns, he's fresh off a huge win over Logan Paul at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. Someone will have to eventually dethrone him, of course, but who will it be?
We've heard that WWE has considered ways to split the titles again, but @WrestleVotes now confirms that, "They have an idea of who is going to beat Roman."
"I don't know specifically if it's Cody. I don't know if it's The Rock. I don't know if it's Bray," the insider adds. "But I think there's a handful of guys that they would say 'alright, this makes sense for future.' But I don't think it's happening anytime soon, to be honest with you."
The Rock wouldn't be a good idea at all, as dethroning Reigns will make that person a huge star. We thought it might be Austin Theory for a time, but Cody Rhodes does make the most sense when he returns from injury.
Whether Triple H plans to push him the same way Vince did remains to be seen, though, especially as it will have been a long time since his defection from AEW by the time he comes back. Still, Cody winning the Royal Rumble and finally winning the title that was always just outside of his father's grasp would make for one heck of a storyline.
Who do you think should be the one to finally beat Reigns?
