Could we see D-von Dudley back in the ring?

The WWE Hall of Famer popped up at the recent ECW nostalgia show with Bubba Ray Dudley and many fans have been asking if he’ll do one more match. Though D-von hasn’t wrestled in a WWE ring since 2016, the former WWE Tag Team Champion made a brief comeback at Impact 1000 by teaming with Brother Ray to beat The Desi Hit Squad (Champagne Singh & Rohit Raju).

D-Von had two other matches for an ECW tribute show and IWC Superstar Showdown V. D-Von has stated in the past that if there was any opportunity to work with WWE then he would be open to returning. But given where he stands in the business, it’s understandable that the veteran is winding down his career as the 52-year-old has been wrestling for over three decades. The itch to wrestle will always be there, but at the moment, D-Von returning to the ring is simply talks, nothing more:

“Here’s what I’m gonna tell you: every time you do one match, you say ‘one more match,’ and then the fans are going ‘one more match’ after that.” D-von said on the Wrestling Life podcast. Listen, they’re not gonna stop until you’re in the grave. You know, but I don’t know, I’m not gonna say never. There are some talks about things happening, whether it’s here in the states or even abroad in Japan. So, nothing, it’s just talks, that’s it. Nothing is being set in stone or anything like that. I’m saying that there were rumblings and talks about it.”

It wouldn’t be a surprise if D-Von had one more match in WWE. As fun as it was to see The Dudleys return in 2016, it was ultimately a disappointing run because they were just a nostalgia act. This was coming off the incredible run that Bubba had as Bully Ray in TNA. It’s doubtful that we’ll ever get to see a full run from these guys again, but a match here and there against some of the modern tag teams would certainly be a great moment for fans.

D-Von expressed in the past that he would like to get a crack at the Triple H era:

“Yes, but I haven’t done the Triple H era. I’ve been through the Vince era, but I would love to get a crack at…maybe even possibly doing the Triple H era, so to speak. You never know. I had fun when I was there, even during the Vince era. At times, it was extremely stressful, but we got through it and did what we had to do. But I never just got a chance to feel that new era," D-Von said to Simon Miller of What Culture.

Will we see The Dudleys have one more match in WWE? Only time will tell.
