The Judgement Day initially consisted of Edge, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley, though the WWE Hall of Famer is thought to have asked to leave the faction when Vince McMahon decided they should head down a supernatural route.
His departure took place when Finn Balor came on board and took Edge's place as leader, while Dominik Mysterio also later chose to join their ranks.
Triple H scrapped those supernatural plans and we've since seen The Judgement Day become one of WWE's most popular heel groups. They're also finding a great deal of success, with Balor set to challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, Priest the current holder of the Money in the Bank Briefcase, Ripley the Women's World Champion, and Mysterio now NXT North American Champion.
According to the @WRKDWrestling Twitter account, WWE plans to continue pushing the group (especially as they've proved to be a big ratings draw).
Moving forward, it sounds like they'll remain front and centre, with WWE eyeing The Judgement Day as the next Bloodline in the sense that they should have the same level of fan interest and longevity. With that in mind, we wouldn't anticipate any sort of breakup happening quite yet despite recent tensions.
It also seems WWE has hit the pause button on plans for JD McDonagh to join the group. The company started teasing the possibility in a few backstage segments on RAW, but the plan has since been halted and the Irish Superstar is largely working Main Event tapings.
Still, bad news for him could be very good news for the rest of The Judgement Day as WWE clearly sees a lot in them. Whether this means Balor will defeat Rollins at SummerSlam remains to be seen, though that does feel like the logical next step for his story in many ways.
Stay tuned for updates.
