It's been confirmed today that Dean Ambrose underwent successful surgery on Tuesday night to repair what we now know to be a high-grade triceps tendon injury. The procedure was performed by Dr. Jeffrey Dugas in Birmingham, Alabama and took around 40 minutes to complete. Unfortunately, it seems like it was a pretty serious injury and he'll need a fair bit of time to heal up.

The surgery was very straightforward; we removed all of the extra bursal tissue — all of that extra swollen stuff around his elbow."
WWE notes that Ambrose has already begun physical therapy, starting with light range-of-motion exercises, and adds that he's expected to leave Birmingham later today. Unfortunately, it's also said that it's unknown how long he'll be out of action but it's a given that he'll miss the Royal Rumble and probably WrestleMania. That Shield reunion has been cursed from the very start it seems...
