It's been confirmed today that Dean Ambrose underwent successful surgery on Tuesday night to repair what we now know to be a high-grade triceps tendon injury. The procedure was performed by Dr. Jeffrey Dugas in Birmingham, Alabama and took around 40 minutes to complete. Unfortunately, it seems like it was a pretty serious injury and he'll need a fair bit of time to heal up.

"He tore some of the distal triceps tendon where it attaches to the forearm bone, called the olecranon," Dr. Dugas says. "He basically tore about 50 percent of the triceps tendon away from the bone. So yesterday we repaired that back down to the bone where it tore off of. The surgery was very straightforward; we removed all of the extra bursal tissue — all of that extra swollen stuff around his elbow."
 
WWE notes that Ambrose has already begun physical therapy, starting with light range-of-motion exercises, and adds that he's expected to leave Birmingham later today. Unfortunately, it's also said that it's unknown how long he'll be out of action but it's a given that he'll miss the Royal Rumble and probably WrestleMania. That Shield reunion has been cursed from the very start it seems...
