WWE announced today that Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman have been hired to work as full-time Executive Directors and both men will report directly to Vince McMahon. While Heyman will oversee
RAW, Bischoff is set to take charge of
SmackDown Live but if this recent interview is any indication, he's not a fan of how the brand extension is being handled right now.
While the two shows were initially completely separate, the "Wild Card" rule has essentially led to the end of that.
Well, after reflecting on why past efforts failed, Bischoff says in the video below that, "If you don't make them feel completely different, it won't work. And part of that is creating stakes, part of that is, it's got to feel real, it's got to be believable or nobody's going to buy into it. But don't let the talent start transitioning back and forth because you dilute the concept."
"They won't feel like two brands, they'll just feel like two different shows, which is what they already feel like."
He added that he doesn't believe the brand extension will last six months if WWE continues having Superstars from the shows appearing on them both and with WWE saying that his and Heyman's hiring will lead to "two distinct creative processes" for RAW and SmackDown Live, the "Wild Card" rule could soon be at an end.
What do you guys think?
