Is MJF vs. Big Boom AJ next?
To the surprise of most fans, Big Boom AJ was a giant success at Full Gear. The crowd was fully engaged with his antics against QT Marshall, though it was notable how much effort the social media guys put into their build against the AEW star. However, it appears that there could be a surprising direction for Big Boom AJ, and that’s former AEW World Champion MJF.
At Boca Raton Championship Wrestling on Sunday, MJF was busy putting a beating on QT Marshall. In the middle of the match, AJ jumped into the ring and clocked Marshall. Then, he turned over to MJF and got into a verbal war with the AEW star. AJ simply left the ring, allowing MJF to score a pinfall win after hitting a brainbuster.
It isn't particularly a surprise that AJ is still wrestling as he was an indie wrestler before the social media fame. As of now, there’s no word on whether a feud is developing between AJ and MJF. The latter is still dealing with Adam Cole, so we won’t get any confirmation on this until after At World’s End.
The 48-year-old expressed during the Full Gear conference that he would like to continue working with AEW in the future:
“I think I’m having a lot of fun where I am right now,” AJ said during the Full Gear media scrum. “I think I’m really loving everything that Big Justice and I have an opportunity to do. Again, we talked about some of the creatures that we’ve been with. There’s a lot we’re doing right now.
“So I don’t think a championship run is in my future. I think that would take a lot of dedication that I’m not sure I have right now, but to be here at AEW and wrestle multiple times throughout the year and see where that goes, I think that’s kind of more of the direction I’m leaning, but I’m getting a sad from over here [from Tony Khan] so.”
Even Tony seemed open to the idea of bring back AJ for another match:
“No, I love it. I want you to keep going, I absolutely love working with you,” Khan said. “You are such a breath of positivity, you’re undefeated in AEW. Brought the boom.”
Given that this was on an independent show, this could’ve been all just indie fun that never gets attention in AEW. Nevertheless, it was a fun moment for the fans in attendance.
