With Jim Ross and Excalibur unable to make the shows due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, Chris Jericho has joined Tony Schiavone as a commentator on AEW Dynamite for the past few weeks.
The leader of the Inner Circle has done a fantastic job and received high praise from fans as well as others in the industry, but is a full-time position at the announce desk something the former AEW Champion has considered?
“As fun as it is to commentate, that’s maybe something I’ll do more in the future, but I think it’s time to kind of take control again, outside of the commentary booth," Jericho told Newsweek. "I’m the leader of the Inner Circle, and I’m Le Champion. I think that was a great kind of stopgap measure to keep the star power on the show because we had a smaller crew for those four weeks that will plug up the gaps and I can kind of be one of the focuses of the show without being the focus of the show if that makes sense."
Jericho hasn't seen much action since being defeated by Jon Moxley for the title, but he's set to return to the ring next week on Dynamite when he teams with fellow Inner Circle member Sammy Guevara to take on Matt Hardy and Kenny Omega.
This will most likely kick-start a feud or angle to build towards Double or Nothing, but we hope The Painmaker returns to commentary soon, because he's been a real breath of fresh air. Ross is great, of course, but Excalibur has struggled, and Schiavone simply isn't the announcer he once was, we're sorry to say.
What do you guys think? Would you like to see more of Le Champion on commentary?
