AEW held a media scrum following last night's episode of AEW Rampage, and it was confirmed that CM Punk has signed a full-time deal with the company and will not be a part-time wrestler. We don't have specifics when it comes to how long his deal is for, but the Best in the World is clearly committed to his new home.
Apparently, talks between Punk and AEW President Tony Khan have been taking place for a good eighteen months; however, Punk wanted to debut in front of fans and seemingly wanted to see where the company would go before signing up (the way the locker room all agreed to keep Brodie Lee's illness a secret showed a camaraderie it seems Punk really appreciated).
Punk told the press that he's not in AEW for wins and losses and is there to give back; he never hated pro wrestling and actually just despite what he says wasn't pro wrestling (i.e. sports entertainment).
The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Brian Pillman Jr., Will Hobbs, Ricky Starks, Jungle Boy, Darby Allin, and Jon Moxley are among those he hopes to face. Oh, and while he considers himself an AEW guy now, it sounds like Punk is open to competing for New Japan Pro Wrestling if Khan wants that.
Ahead of his match against Darby Allin at All Out next month, Punk is set to be on Dynamite this week:
