Hangman Adam Page Vs. Kenny Omega At AEW FULL GEAR Was Longterm Wrestling Storytelling At Its Finest

Last night's AEW Full Gear PPV was headlined by Hangman Adam Page battling Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship, and trust us when we say the ending of this match could not have been more perfect.

AEW Full Gear was another superb All Elite Wrestling PPV, with more than its fair share of great matches. However, if you're looking for longterm pro wrestling storytelling at its finest, then Hangman Adam Page vs. Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship was pure perfection.

Page asked The Young Bucks to be in his corner when he faced Chris Jericho for the title at All Out, but they refused, and that was perhaps the first chapter in what proved to be a beautifully crafted story arc. The friendship between the three men fell apart after that early diss (the Bucks would often support Omega by being in his corner for big matches), with Page's drinking causing issues between him and the Bucks and his actions ultimately getting him thrown out of The Elite.

These days, Nick and Matt Jackson have aligned themselves with Omega as part of The Elite, so fans were understandably concerned when the Bucks made their way to the ring during AEW Full Gear's main event. However, despite teasing getting involved, Matt gave Page the nod just moments before he hit Omega with a second Buckshot to win AEW's top championship (Nick didn't interfere during the first in the opposite corner either).

The Young Bucks, clearly seeing the writing on the wall for their ally, were finally in Page's corner. As noted, the way the friendship between Adam, Nick, and Matt has fallen apart since AEW launched has been a huge part of the company's longterm storytelling plans and this was, without a doubt, the perfect payoff.

As AEW Full Gear went off the air, Page also seemingly finally accepted his place in The Dark Order, embracing the members of the group as he was held aloft by them.

Folks, this is professional wrestling.
