Jon Moxley Hands Jake Hager His First Loss On DYNAMITE To Retain The AEW Championship

We knew this one would be brutal, and it didn't disappoint. Both men beat the ever loving crap out of each other in a No DQ match, but in the end Jon Moxley handed Jake Hager his first defeat in AEW...

Jon Moxley is still the AEW Heavyweight Champion... just!

Mox and The Inner Circle's Jake Hager went to war in a No-Holds-Barred Match in the main event of Dynamite, and the encounter was every bit as brutal as you'd expect.

Despite the No DQ stipulation, they didn't rely on weapons to any great extent, and most of the bout was actually more of an old-school wrasslin' match with some strong MMA flourishes thrown in for good measure. Things did eventually move to the outside, of course, and Mox was able to utilize the environment to gain the upper hand. However, when they returned to the ring, Big Hurt lived up to his nickname and pounded his opponent almost into submission.

The Purveyor of Violence refused to tap-out to an ankle lock, though, and after throwing a steel chair right in Hager's face he managed to land his Paradigm Shift DDT on the same chair for the 1,2,3.

Nobody really expected Mox to lose the title so soon after taking if from Chris Jericho, but the clean (well, within the confines of the match) win was a little surprising. Is this the last we'll see of Moxley vs. Hager? Don't count on it.
