The booking of Kamille in AEW has been questionable.

When the former NWA World Women’s Champion signed with the company in February, many felt that this was a great addition to the women’s division. Kamille has been a star ever since she joined NWA in 2018. She was a standout as Nick Aldis’s insurance policy and her 813 day reign as champion proved that she belonged on a bigger stage.

But some of the red flags about AEW’s booking of Kamille started when the company went months of keeping her on the sidelines. When the 32-year-old finally made her debut as Mercedes Mone’s bodyguard in July, it was a positive sign that Tony Khan had finally given her a program that allowed Kamille to showcase why she was such a special force in NWA.

However, the booking of her character has been notably clumsy and the anticlimactic split between her and the TBS Champion came out of nowhere. Many have criticized the booking of the former NWA star, including Konnan on his Keepin’ It 100 podcast:

"They got to her too early and diluted her effectiveness," he explained. "Just about everybody, from Shida to Statlander to Britt Baker. Everybody got to her. That's not much of a bodyguard. Just like I said with Lashley and Swerve, I think her and Mone in a program is way too early."

Konnan called Kamille’s booking outright “terrible” and the former WCW star has a good point. Tony Khan failed to properly build the former NWA star as the powerhouse that she was meant to be. Her sudden break-up with Mercedes Mone felt forced because their relationship was still in the early stages.

On the bright side, Kamille can really look like a star if she goes into a feud with Mercedes Mone. She was found unconscious on the latest episode of Rampage, which likely points to Mone being her attacker. AEW has a chance to make a star if they book the Kamille/Mercedes Mone feud properly, should it happen. The AEW star recently spoke with WrestleCade about the ending of their partnership and Kamille stayed in character for the most part:

“I think you saw my response on Wednesday. I’m a pretty patient person, I’m a pretty forgiving person. But sometimes, enough is enough. I’ve also learned that if you don’t have something nice to say, better to not say anything at all. So I thought instead of showing how angry I was physically, just better to walk away," Kamille said.

We’ll see how the angle plays out. Hopefully, Kamille gets a story that she can finally sink her teeth into.
