Andrade’s first post-WWE appearance has been confirmed.
Surprisingly, it isn’t during a show where he can punch MJF. The former WWE United States Champion will be making his way over to The Crash on October 3rd. The Lucha Libre show is scheduled to take place at the Municipal Auditorium Fausto Gutierrez Moreno in Tijuana, Mexico.
This likely means that Andrade doesn’t have a non-compete clause despite him being released from his contract instead of the company simply waiting until it expires. It’s been a whirlwind month for the 35-year-old as Andrade was in one of the best matches during Summerslam weekend with Rey Fenix.
WWE releasing Andrade a couple of weeks after came out of the blue, though according to several respectable sources, the release had been in the works for quite a while. Long story short, there was reportedly some disciplinary issues behind the scenes with Andrade. Allegedly, he was unhappy with the way the company was booking him and when you look at Andrade’s second main roster run then you can understand why he wasn’t thrilled with his position within WWE.
Nevertheless, Andrade can finally choose his own career path and it seems that he’ll be heading to Mexico to make a name for himself. The former WWE star was employed by AEW at one point, but Andrade’s time in that promotion wasn’t exactly a smooth ride. It’s always possible that Andrade returns to AEW, but given the stacked roster that the promotion currently has, it wouldn’t be surprising if he never shows up back in AEW.
The only thing Andrade has said since his WWE release was a brief thank you post to his former employer. Currently, it’s unknown if this is just a one off for The Crash. Andrade has competed in the Lucha Libre promotion before as he made his debut for The Crash in 2021. He’s only had two matches for The Crash, thus far. It should be interesting to see how Andrade handles his second post-WWE run. He also has the possibility of going back to New Japan Pro-Wrestling as Andrade had a prominent run with the promotion from 2010 to 2015.
Sadly though, it doesn’t seem that we’ll get that Hair vs. Mask match between him and MJF anytime soon.
