Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has a few annual events, and the best known show, Battle of Los Angeles/BOLA, happens in late August or early September each year. All Star Weekend isn’t quite as big of a deal as BOLA but it still sells out extremely quickly and produces some excellent matches on a consistent basis.

Just about every PWG show is worth checking out, even if they are a bit hard to do so. PWG doesn’t have a television deal or any sort of streaming network set up. Ultimately this means that they are able to use talent who would otherwise be unable to wrestle for any promotions with deals like that in place but it also means that the only ways to see their shows are to get tickets to their live shows or to buy their DVDs / Blu-rays once they are released.

The 13th annual All Star Weekend was no different, with many calling the first night of the event one of the best PWG shows they’ve ever seen. Below are the results from both nights.

PWG All Star Weekend 13 - Night 1

Brian Cage vs. Flash Morgan Webster – Flash Morgan Webster defeated Brian Cage after Cage attempted a powerslam and Webster countered with a cradle for the pin.

Mark Haskins vs. Adam Brooks – Brooks was making his PWG debut.  Mark Haskins defeated Adam Brooks with the Sharpshooter.

Trevor Lee vs. Joey Janela – The opening few minutes of the match were crazy with lots of high flying.  Joey Janela defeated Trevor Lee by reversing Trevor Lee’s rollup into his own.

Keith Lee vs. Jonah Rock – Keith Lee is considered to be one of the best big men in the game and he proves why again and again.  The end of the match came when Rock came off the top rope and was caught by Lee.  Lee picked him up to his shoulders and performed a jackhammer for the pin.

Ricochet vs. WALTER – Ricochet wins after reversing WALTER’s choke sleeper into a pinning combination.

The Chosen Bros (Matt Riddle & Jeff Cobb) vs. The Lucha Brothers (Penta 0M & Rey Fenix) – This match was for the PWG Tag Team Titles.  The Chosen Bros win the titles when Cobb throws Fenix into Riddle’s GTS.

PWG All Star Weekend 13 - Night 2

Jonah Rock vs. Adam Brooks – A good opening match with Rock defeating his fellow Australian, Brooks.

The Young Bucks vs. Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Haskins – The Young Bucks won after a Meltzer Driver on Haskins and sharpshooters on both men.

Marty Scurll vs. Joey Janela – Marty Scurll defeats Joey Janela with a chickenwing.

Zack Sabre Jr. vs. WALTER – WALTER lit ZSJ up with chops throughout the entire match.  WALTER won after reversing Sabre’s bridging pin into a choke.

Matt Sydal vs. Trent vs. Rey Horus – Trent (Barreta) got the pin on Sydal after a Dudebuster.

PWG World Championship: Chuck Taylor (Champion) vs. Ricochet – Ricochet worked as a heel and Taylor undid the top rope to prevent Ricochet from using a lot of his high-flying offense.  Ricochet still picked up the W and is the new PWG World Champ after a uranage / Rock Bottom type of move.  It’s expected that Ricochet’s reign as champ will be short lived as rumors are strong that he is headed to WWE in the near future.  Take this with a grain of salt but he did say that he’s “not going anywhere.”

Were you lucky enough to attend All Star Weekend? What are your thoughts on Ricochet’s title win and his possible future in WWE?
