In perhaps one of the more surprising developments of the evening given what was at stake, Chris Jericho defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi during Night 2 of NJPW's Wrestle Kingdom 14.

The Painmaker had promised The Ace a shot at his AEW Championship if he was able to defeat him at the Tokyo Dome, and many fans assumed they'd get to see that match at some point. Alas, after an exciting back-and-forth encounter, Jericho was able to force Tanahashi to tap out to a high-angle Lion Tamer/Walls of Jericho to pick up the win.

So, does this nix any chances of New Japan and All Elite Wrestling working together in the future? Not necessarily!
