El Hijo del Vikingo has had enough of the fans B.S.
Things haven’t been right with Vikingo since he beat Alberto El Patron at AAA Alianzas. Despite Patron being a massive heel, fans have made it clear that they were pissed over the abrupt end to Patron’s AAA Mega title run. Since that win, Vikingo has been booed massively by fans in the Lucha Libre promotion.
It certainly didn’t help that Vikingo retained his title in a heelish manner against Patron at TripleMania Regia 2025. Patron was handcuffed to the ropes as Vikingo was climbing the steel cage to escape. That drew massive boos from fans, even though the match layout didn’t particularly cast Vikingo as a heel.
Still, Vikingo’s heat continued to follow him despite not being the man responsible for Patron’s exit. He was heavily booed in his match against Dominik Mysterio and the crowd popped huge when he lost the AAA Mega Championship.
Vikingo made his return this Saturday with a new attitude. The former AAA Mega Champion came out to a chorus of boos, but he embraced them this time. He did classic heel tactics when walking down to the ring, with Vikingo even snatching away a mask from a fan and tossing it to the ground.
Vikingo would eventually be confronted by fellow heel El Grande Americano; however, to this crowd, Americano was a massive babyface. They both talked trash to one another before getting into a scuffle that was broken up.
It was later confirmed that Vikingo wouldn’t be getting a match against El Grande Americano; however, he will get a shot at the AAA Latin American Championship next month.
The strange allegiance to the biggest heel in Mexico has definitely forced AAA to turn Vikingo into a villain. As far as El Patron goes, despite his huge popularity in Mexico, there’s no signs that WWE plans to bring him back. Alberto lost a loser leaves town match back in July.
However, Patron hasn’t been fully gone from AAA as he’s still competing in the promotion, just not during televised events. It’s not impossible to assume that Patron will be back on AAA television as he hasn’t been fired officially, but WWE management is trying to figure out what to do with the 48-year-old. Despite his negative history with the company, AAA has built him to be a top star and it’s clear that fans still love the guy in the Mexican promotion.
