The wrestling world is still buzzing over the All Elite Wrestling rally that took place this past Tuesday. One of the many surprises that happened was Chris Jericho revealing that’s he’s signed with the new professional wrestling promotion.
The former Intercontinental champion sat down and spoke on Busted Open Radio to further discuss his deal with AEW and why he ultimately decided to sign with the new promotion. Jericho's deal is reportedly for three years and he claims that it's the best contract that he's agreed to.
Jericho talked about the company’s pending network deal, which is currently still in the negotiating phase. While a channel has yet to be confirmed for the new wrestling company, the former Intercontinental champion knows the networks that management is currently in talks with and stresses how strong it will be for the promotion to land on one of the networks:
“There’s a whole backstage element that’s being signed of all the things that you see in WWE from Talent Relations, to Booking Agents, to Director of the show.
As far as TV goes, I mean that’s one of the things, I wouldn’t have gone to all Elite if there wasn’t a strong TV deal on the table and there’s a couple that I know that are on the table that are like, ‘Wow, that’s what they need.'”
Chris would go on to say that the prospective TV deals will definitely allow all those who are curious about the promotion to know that this is a new force in the industry.
“By me joining the company I think fans, and wrestlers most importantly think, ‘holy shit, if Jericho went there this is the real deal.’ And yes, the television deals that are being talked about, once again nothing is set in stone, but if it’s one of the three that I know people will go okay this is the real deal.”
