Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi Re-Signs With NEW JAPAN PRO-WRESTLING

The challenger for the IWGP Heavyweight championship at Wrestle Kingdom 13 on January 4, 2019 has officially re-signed with New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Hiroshi Tanahashi announced his contract signing through social media. Tanahashi's tweet, which was translated by Wrestlinginc.com, says: "Contract renewal with New Japan Wrestling. I will do my best next year too!"

Tanahashi has been with the company for nearly 20 years as the former IWGP Heavyweight champion made his debut back in 1999. Tanahashi has won the heavyweight title seven times in his career, in addition to being a former IWGP Intercontinental Champion, IWGP Tag Team Champion, and NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champion.
