Shane Strickland is officially a free agent.

The former Major League Wrestling star made the announcement through his social media page earlier today. The former MLW World Heavyweight champion has been linked to being WWE bound over the past few months, according to several sources including Dave Meltzer.

However, Strickland was reportedly suffering through setbacks due to his contract with Lucha Underground.

Strickland was Lt. Jermaine Strickland, a military veteran who wrestled under a mask as Killshot. Strickland was on board for the entire four seasons of LU and managed to capture the Lucha Underground Trios Championship twice. Strickland’s character was written off of LU this past season as he lost a mask vs. mask match to Son of Havoc and was finally given permission to be relieved of duty by Dante Fox.

It was reported that while his contract was indeed set to expire, his situation needed to be resolved first before he can officially sign with WWE. Strickland announcing that he’s a free agent seems to confirm that he’s finally clear of the LU contract situation.
