Hiromu Takahashi did not have an easy Sunday.
The GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion defended his title against Taiji Ishimori following his loss to the former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion in a tag team match at the NJLPW Battle Line Hokkaido show a couple of nights earlier.
For nearly 12 minutes, the match had some crazy back and forth action such as Ishimori hitting a uranage and a 450 splash for a strong nearfall, but Hiromu was able to connect with the Time bomb for the three count.
But there’s no rest for the wicked.
There was some respect shown between Ishimori and Takahashi following the match. But once the former left the ring, immediately, Hiromu’s opponent for October 11, Eita, ambushed Hiromu and trash talked him and the fans afterwards.
The GHC Junior Heavyweight title is the first singles belt that Hiromu has won in 2025. He did win the IWGP Tag Team titles with Tetsuya Naito at The New Beginning in Osaka 2025 show, but that title reign barely lasted three months. Once Tetsuya Naito departed from New Japan, Takahashi has been mainly working tag team matches, though he did fly solo during the Best of the Super Juniors tournament.
Takahashi’s opponent is a former two-time GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion. Eita has been wrestling since 2011, with Pro Wrestling NOAH being his main home since 2021. The 33-year-old has accomplished a lot during his short time in NOAH, though his longest title reign in the promotion is 122 days. This will be the first time that Eita and Hiromu Takahashi face each other as both men took different career paths.
Who will come out on top?
We’ll find out on October 11th at the company’s Wrestle Odyssey pay-per-view! This will be Takahashi’s second title defense. Originally, Eita was scheduled to get the first crack at the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship, but plans changed once Ishimori got that big win over Takahashi nearly a week ago.
