Hiromu Takahashi has done it again.
The New Japan Pro-Wrestling star may have failed to beat Kyle Fletcher for the TNT Championship at Forbidden Door, but Hiromu did not repeat that mistake on September 8th. The New Japan star has been working with Pro Wrestling NOAH throughout 2025 and he captured his first title under the promotion. Hiromu Takahashi beat YO-HEY for the GHC Junior Heavyweight title.
YO-HEY held the belt for a respectable 128 days; The Pro-Wrestling NOAH star originally beat Eita for the title back at NOAH 25th Anniversary ~ Memorial Voyage 2025 In Ryogoku and successfully defended his belt four times before dropping it to Hiromu Takahashi.
The GHC Junior Heavyweight title is the first singles belt that Hiromu has won in 2025. He did win the IWGP Tag Team titles with Tetsuya Naito at The New Beginning in Osaka 2025 show, but that title reign barely lasted three months. Once Tetsuya Naito departed from New Japan, Takahashi has been mainly working tag team matches, though he did fly solo during the Best of the Super Juniors tournament.
Hiromu is notably a former five time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, so this title win is right up his alley. Though he still mainly works for New Japan, the 35-year-old has been spreading his wings and working with different promotions as of late. As of this writing, it’s unknown when Hiromu will take the GHC Junior Heavyweight title for the first time.
Congratulations to the veteran New Japan star! It’s another feather in Takashi’s storied career. Hiromu's first title defense has already been confirmed as the GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion is scheduled to fight Eita.
