Following major backlash stemming from a racist joke he made during commentary on last night's episode of NWA Powerrr, controversial announcer Jim Cornette has officially resigned from the company.

Here is Northern Wrestling Alliance's statement on the matter.

Effective immediately: Jim Cornette has resigned from the National Wrestling Alliance. As an announcer on the November 19th edition of NWA Power, Jim made remarks during a singles match between Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch that were both offensive and do not meet the high standards of decency and good faith of the National Wrestling Alliance. To ensure that such an error can never happen again, we've established new procedures of review for all NWA programming going forward. We sincerely regret our failure in this regard.

Here's what Jim said, in case you missed it: "He's the only man I’ve ever known who can strap a bucket of fried chicken on his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia."

Corny was clearly joking and almost certainly didn't mean for his comments to come across so distasteful, but... they did! Whether he or anyone else likes it, you simply can't say that kind of thing on TV anymore and not expect some serious repercussions.
