For the past ten years, PROGRESS has been doing their annual Super Strong Style 16 tournament that’s composed of four rounds. It’s a single elimination tournament that’s set to determine who will challenge the PROGRESS World Champion. The history of the tournament stems from the high quality of matches that come from it.

The tournament started in 2015 and Will Ospreay won the inaugural competition. Since Ospreay, Tommy End (Malakai Black), Zack Sabre Jr, and Travis Banks (NXT UK) are the other notable names that have won the yearly tournament. This year’s Super Strong Style 16 promises to be another exciting event and the promotion has already confirmed Man Like Dereiss, Marcus Mathers, Zozaya, Leon Slater, Ethan Allen, Masa Kitamiya and Jack Morris.

Now Trent Seven has been confirmed as the next entrant.

Seven is no stranger to professional wrestling. The 43-year-old is mostly known for his time in NXT UK, where he constantly teamed with Tyler Bate and the duo were known as Mustache Mountain. MM would win the NXT UK Tag Team titles, though once Bate and Seven dropped the belts, his career in WWE didn’t last long as he was released from his contract in late 2022.

But even before NXT UK existed, Seven had been wrestling on the indie scene for nearly a decade. Seven first made his debut for PROGRESS Wrestling in 2016, where his Moustache Mountain partner Tyler Bate took on The Dunne Bros (Damian Dunne & Pete Dunne). Seven had competed in PROGRESS consistently ever since, with him winning the PROGRESS Tag Team titles three times (twice with Bate and one time with Pete Dunne) and the PROGRESS Atlas Championship once.

Seven made his return to the company after four years at PROGRESS Chapter 174, where Ricky Knight Jr. beat the veteran in a hard fought match-up. Despite Seven’s history with PROGRESS, he’s never won the world title within the promotion and given the level of experience that he has then 2025 Super Strong Style 16 could finally give him the opportunity to do so.

Will Trent Seven outlast 15 of his opponents?

We’ll find out on May 5th as the Super Strong Style 16 starts on May 4th and ends on the following day. This is shaping up to be a very loaded tournament!
