Since dropping the ROH World Championship to PCO at Final Battle, RUSH arguably became stronger within Ring of Honor. The 31-year-old aligned himself with Kenny King and ROH World Television Champion Dragon Lee to form La Facción Ingobernable and on February 29, RUSH won the prestigious belt for the second time by beating PCO and Mark Haskins in a Triple Threat match.
Being the first Mexican to win the top belt in Ring of Honor, RUSH explains in his interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated the hard work and sacrifices he’s made throughout his career, and that this is just the beginning for the newly crowned champion:
“I was the first Mexican to win this championship, now I am the first two-time champion,” said RUSH, whose answers have been translated from Spanish. “For me, I take a great pride as a Mexican and satisfaction as a fighter because every step I have taken has cost me a lot of sacrifice, tears, blood, sweat, and hard workouts. Now this title is the reward of all that, and this is just the beginning in the history for ‘El Toro Blanco.’”
RUSH is hoping to be the face of the brand for a very long time, and wants to establish La Facción Ingobernable as the best faction in the wrestling world:
“I would like to become the face of ROH and the champion for a long time, and make Los Ingobernables the strongest group in the world,” said RUSH. “Kenny King, Dragon Lee, Rush, and one more is coming—you will see him soon. Los Ingobernables will dominate Ring of Honor.”
At the moment, all events for Ring of Honor have been cancelled until June. RUSH was previously set to fight Mark Haskins and Flip Gordon for the ROH World title, so its possible that he’ll face either one of these men or both at Best in the World in June.
