We take a rewind to Matt Taven’s first crack at championship gold.

When the 35-year-old won the Top Prospect Tournament in 2013, many pegged Taven as a future world champion and on April 6, 2019 in Madison Square Garden, the former Kingdom member finally achieved his top goal by capturing said belt when he defeated Jay Lethal and Marty “The Villain” Scurll in a ladder match.

However, prior to winning the ROH World Championship, Taven’s career in the promotion always saw the cocky New Hamsphire native with gold around his waist. Whether it was the ROH Six-Man and World Tag Team titles with his fellow Kingdom members to the World Television championship.

In the month of honor, Taven looks back at his first singles title win at the 11th Anniversary show, where the up-and-comer took on current NXT Champion Adam Cole. The former three-time ROH World Champion was no slouch during his lengthy reign, as Cole defeated the likes of Roderick Strong, Eddie Edwards, and Matt Hardy during the 246 days he held the prestigious belt.

Cole was coming in hot as the ROH World Television champion; however, Taven entered the contest with some strong momentum on his side as well. Question is, who walked out of Chicago the champion? Check it out below:
