Jon Moxley Defeats Minoru Suzuki At NJPW NEW BEGINNING To Retain The IWGP U.S. Championship

We expected this one to be violent, and we were not disappointed. In what was seen as a dream match by many fans, Jon Moxley was able to withstand the onslaught of "The King" at New Japan's New Beginning.

It was a match any wrestling fan in their right mind wanted to see from the moment Jon Moxley first appeared in NJPW, and we got to see it today at the New Beginning in Osaka.

Before Mox even entered the ring the chairs were swinging, and things only got more brutal from there with multiple stiff shots and vicious submission holds. At one point, Suzuki attempted to break Jon's arm by slamming it between two chairs, but the IWGP United States Champion escaped with minor bruising and was able to fight his way back into the bout.

In the end, it took a chair shot to the head and two Death Rider DDTs, but Moxley managed to pin the legendary Japanese star and retain his title.

Should Minoru have won here? Moxley has been a great champion and it's obviously awesome to see him in both NJPW and AEW, but Suzuki hasn't held a singles title in a very long time, and his fans are eager to see others chase him for a change.

At any rate, it looks like Mox's next challenger is sorted, because Zack Saber Jr. jumped him after the match and choked him out.
