Just days before NXT TakeOver: Chicago, Tomasso Ciampa seemingly suffered an injury which looked like it would remove him from the ladder match he ultimately competed in alongside Johnny Gargano for The Authors of Pain's NXT Tag Team Championships.

Whether that match exacerbated the injury or he was just unlucky enough to suffer one during it isn't clear, but it's now being reported that Ciampa is going to be on the injured list for quite some time as he looks set to go under the knife shortly. The NXT Superstar has reportedly suffered a torn ACL, a problem which should keep him out of action for months, not weeks.

This couldn't come at a worse time for Ciampa, especially as a recent heel turn saw him turn on Gargano. That programme is now going to be put on hold and if Gargano moves up to the main roster in the meantime, it may never get a satisfying conclusion. On the plus side, Ciampa will be addressing his departure on this week's NXT.

We wish him a speedy recovery and will be sure to keep you guys updated.
