The daughter of Paul Ellering was quietly released this week.
The second-generation star posted a video confirming the news that she was no longer with WWE and strongly hints at a return to the independent scene:
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Ellering was released due to her complaining about the treatment for her torn ACL. The wrestling journalist doesn't exactly go into detail about the problems she had with the treatment; however, he does make it clear that it was bad enough that she spoke up about it to WWE officials. Ellering never requested her release; however, Meltzer noted that she wasn't unhappy with being let go from the promotion.
Known as Rachel Evers down in NXT, the 27-year-old made her first appearance with WWE in 2016 and was mostly used as enhancement talent early in her run. Ellering was in the first-ever Mae Young Classic tournament, and the second-generation star was originally tapped to lose her first-round match-up against Marti Belle (TNA and NWA); however, the planned finish was changed last minute and Ellering walked out victorious. Ellering would end up losing in the second round to Abbey Laith.
The former WWE/NXT star returned for the second Mae Young Classic; however, she was knocked out of the competition in the first round thanks to Hiroyo Matsumoto. It was confirmed that she officially signed a deal with the company in early 2019 and made several live event appearances; however, Ellering suffered a torn ACL in July and hasn’t wrestled since.
Prior to her stint with WWE, Ellering competed in Impact Wrestling, Stardom, and Shine as well. There’s no word on where the second-generation star could end up.
