After a year long battle, it seems like Impact Wrestling and Anthem president Ed Nordholm has changed his tune in regards to the 'Broken' Matt Hardy character being used in other companies. It's well known now that the trademark for 'Broken' Matt Hardy is up on December 19 and Impact Wrestling would have to put more money into challenging the property again. This past Monday, Matt Hardy strongly teased the 'Broken' character and Nordholm has responded on Sports Illustrated:

"We have seen the character development and will be interested to see where they take the concept. Our new talent agreements all incorporate language that allow talent to continue to use their IMPACT persona after they leave the company. We are working with our legal team to amend our existing agreements to extend this to all of our current and former talent."

This is great news for 'Broken' Matt Hardy fans as Anthem will not challenge the trademark (should they not change their minds in the 30 day period). Impact's financial troubles have been documented heavily over the past few months, and while Nordholm never addresses the reasoning for his change of heart, one has to think that money is part of the reasoning why Nordholm and company won't be fighting this battle any longer. However, the reasoning is speculation at the moment.
