Nic Nemeth is no longer the TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
When the former WWE star came into the promotion at Hard to Kill, there was significant buzz over Nemeth choosing TNA over AEW. The TNA star thrived in the spotlight and captured the world title at Slammiversary 2024.
Nic held that title for 183 days and successfully defended it against top names such as Mustafa Ali, Josh Alexander, Eddie Edwards, Matt Riddle, and the man that beat him for the belt at Genesis, Joe Hendry.
Now that Nemeth’s title run is over, the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion looks back on his lengthy run and expressed on Busted Open Radio how he felt about being the top dog of the promotion for over five months.
“I was happy and above all I was proud to be the TNA Champion … no matter champion or not, if I’m not even booked on the show, if I’m just a longtime ambassador, the relationship doesn’t even work, I would love to be waving that flag for TNA just because I know about the guys and gals, and all the hard work they put into it … huge year for TNA and we kicked it off at Genesis.”
There’s no telling where Nemeth will go from here. Back in early January, it was announced that the 44-year-old had signed a contract extension with TNA, though the length of the extension was never specified. Nemeth is scheduled to appear on the upcoming TNA Impact! Episode Thursday.
Though Nic wasn’t on the live episode last week, he was pumped about the promotion having their first live show in eight years. Nemeth feels that the company absolutely killed it last week.
“We went for it, TNA put it all on the line and absolutely delivered … I got to watch so many of the matches, stories make sense and get paid off and watch everyone come on and be involved and just the hard work paid off … that’s the best part, live TV, I’m used to it, I did 20 years in a row of it, but so many people aren’t and there’s an extra buzz.”
As previously stated, Nic Nemeth will kick off the latest episode of TNA. What will be the future of the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion? Hopefully we’ll find out this Thursday!
