Big Cass didn't have the most successful run on WWE's main roster after alienating many of his fellow Superstars with his supposed bad attitude and right-wing views. This took a serious toll on his mental health, especially after he ended up being released from the company.
Cass has gone through some dark times, but has turned his life around of late (in part thanks to the DDP Yoga programme), and recently made his debut on IMPACT Wrestling as W. Morrissey.
On the most recent episode of IMPACT, Morrissey cut a passionate "worked shoot" promo in which he blasted fans who recorded him having a seizure during a show three years ago instead of dialling 911 and getting him the help he needed. He also calls out his former co-workers that kicked him when he was down.
“Every time that I’ve fallen down in this industry, every time that something’s bad that’s happened to me or I made headlines for all the wrong reasons, people kicked me while I was down. When I had a seizure in front of 1,500 people in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, those fans that love us and adore us, you know what they did? They took out their phones and instead of dialing 911, they recorded it and put it on YouTube.
And then everybody in the world gets to watch me at my most vulnerable point. And my former co-workers, people that are here behind-the-scenes, people that are in this locker room, do you know what they did when they saw that video? When I was at my lowest point, they laughed at me. And nobody reached out. People that I thought were my friends, they didn’t even reach out. Not even a text, not a phone call, ‘Hey man, how are you doing?’ And for three years, nobody contacted me.”
This was Morrissey speaking in-character, but it sounds like he was genuinely getting some stuff off his chest here, and it certainly made for a compelling promo.
How he fares on the IMPACT roster remains to be seen, but we wish him all the best.
